After fixing the forge Smith Eddie will come and talk to you again. This time he will ask you to craft a Common Pickaxe.
Dialogue:

I've been talking with Trainer Jack, he told me that you are trying to reopen the Mine.
I'm really glad to hear it, it's the heart of our village.
Make sure to equip correct tool before going there.
With the scheme I gave you are able to prepare the basic tool required to mine stone.
Bring me the materials, I'll make you the best tool you've ever seen!
