Quest 7: Trainer Jack
From Miners Settlement - Game Wiki
This is a series of quests that you do one by one as you can, it will not affect your other quests. After building a common pickaxe, Jack will come and talk to you asking to upgrade and buy new mining pets. Also these quests won't show up until you have the level of the mine open that corresponds with those animals.
Dialogue:

If your pets are already helping you... You can try to bring cave mine back to work.
I know it's a tough job, but you can find some valuable materials for sell.
Just try to rebuild the entrance.
